Channel 4 - ‘Black Mirror: The Entire History Of You’
(Glasvegas - Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime)
The lyrics of this song’s chorus could easily be referring to the plot of Channel 4’s latest Black Mirror instalment, which surrounds a lawyer’s suspicions of his wife’s infidelity. The protagonist’s evident paranoia is complemented by this quite dark, distorted cover version of The Korgis’ 80’s hit.
Ludovico Einaudi - Solo (Hidden)
An alternative version of Nightbook, which has been stripped down to a solo piano track. This version has been used in various TV productions including a particularly grim scene from Shane Meadow’s ‘This Is England ‘86’.
Ludovico Einaudi - Nightbook
The main melody from this piece of music has become quite a popular tool for creating emotion among producers of television dramas and advertisements in the past couple of years. I first became aware of it in the above TV trailer for last year’s Channel 4 drama ‘Any Human Heart’.
Nokia Lumia 800 - ‘The Amazing Everyday’
Nokia’s most recent advertising campaign saw Deadmau5 play a short 30 minute DJ set at the foot of a computer-animated Millbank Tower in London, with his electronic dance music helping to enhance the colourful visual effects projected onto the building.
Cliff Martinez - Wrong Floor
Composed specifically for this elevator scene from Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest movie ‘Drive’, this track helps to create the calm before a sudden outburst of violence from the lead character. Before Martinez came up with the score, a temporary soundtrack was used, with this scene initially featuring Brian Eno’s ambient classic An Ending (Ascent) to create the same kind of peaceful effect.
Portishead - The Rip
Featured in this intriguing trailer for an upcoming Channel 4 drama entitled ‘Black Mirror’.
Fuck Buttons - Sweet Love For Mother Earth
Used at the climax of episodes 2 and 4 of Channel 4’s recent council estate crime drama ‘Top Boy’, this track builds and builds into a drone of distorted electronic noise. In a good way.
My first attempt at putting a video together using one of my own tracks.

The Three Corners Of The Earth - Fire Shall Devour Them
This isn’t the gothy track that you might expect it to be from its title. Slightly reminiscent of M83’s sound (it’s actually co-produced by Anthony Gonzalez), this is a very dramatic synthy track and works well alongside the stunts and awesome mountain ranges featured in the trailer for the snowboarding video ‘The Art of FLIGHT’.
M83 - Black Hole
M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) creates distinctive but beautiful film scorey sounds often involving an intense build up of synths. This track was produced specifically for the 2010 film ‘L’Autre Monde/Black Heaven’. While this is perhaps not M83 at its best (Gonzalez has been a bit harsh on himself by describing the piece as “shitty”), it’s nonetheless an effective track to complement the digital world theme of the movie.
